GREEN EYE
BLUE
EYE
A rare finding brought for restoration in this Event was
Margot.
Young-Collector Alice found it at the bottom of a box in
a Car Boot sale and bought it for 50p. There have been three editions of
Margot. The pleated skirt one (1956-1957), the semi-pleated skirt
(1956-1959) and the straight skirt (1957-1967). This one has a
straight-skirt, but what makes it so special is the fact that her eyes'
colour is original and "green"
rather than the usual "blue" colour. A
PenDelfin artist said she heard that when Jean Walmsley Heap would wonder on
the shop-floor, she would paint the "odd" piece and use exclusively "green"
paint on its eyes.
Is this fact or fable? Can anyone verify it? Lucky
Alice!!! Well done!!!
